:: Decorative Mask ::

This Tutorial is written with the assumption that you are moderately familiar with PSP 7 and its tools.

I haven't included screenshots in this tutorial, because it's pretty self explanatory. I made this from scratch in PSP... It started as a vector tutorial... but It got too complicated so I made it into a selection tutorial instead. Laziness strikes again! lol.

You will need the selection files for this tutorial which you can download here

1. Open a new document 225x275

2. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk mask01
Flood fill with #C0C0C0
Contract selection by 1
Flood fill with white

3. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask02
Flood fill with #C0C0C0

4. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask 03
Flood fill with #C0C0C0

5. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask
Flood fill with white

6. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask 04
Flood fill with #C0C0C0

7. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask 05
Flood fill with #C0C0C0
Layers>duplicate

8. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask 06
Flood fill with #C0C0C0

9. Add a new layer
Load selection from disk Mask 01
Apply cut out with the following settings:

Vertical/Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 52
Blur: 42.5
Shadow color: Black

10. Go to your layer palette and hide layers 1 & 2
Go to layers>merge>merge visible

11. Make layer 2 the active layer and load selection from disk Mask 07
Hit delete
Make your merged layer active
Hit delete
12. Add a new layer
Go to Selections>invert
Add the following drop shadow:

Vertical & Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 23
Blur: 11.1

13. Make layer 2 active & add a new layer and decorate as you wish. :o)
If you go outside the edges while decorating, you can reload the Mask01 selection and invert to delete the extra.

The image you just made is yours to do whatever you want with. No part of this tutorial may be offered for download anywhere else. You may link to it with a text link only. Violators will be hung by toenails.
