Easy Peasy Metallic Foil Backgrounds

I've looked all over for an easy Gradient tutorial and couldn't find one so I decided to write one. These are the backgrounds I use for the thin borders on sets--->

This tutorial could be done by a beginner but assumes you have a basic knowledge of where the tools and menus are located. It is written for PSP 7 but can be done with other versions.

1. Ok... first open a new image in a "strip" size, I use 20 x 197

2. Set your foreground color to a dark color and your background color to a light shade of the same color. For Silver choose a medium gray for the foreground and white for the background. For Gold use a color close to #938242 for the foreground and #FFFFC0 for the background.

3. Select your flood fill tool set to gradient and select #1 Foreground-Background
Angle: 0
Repeats: 1
and Flood fill your image.

Gradient Menu

4. Next go to effects>noise and add 3% Uniform Noise.

That's it. You're done! Told you it was easy peasy!

To spice them up a bit play with different effects in PSP or filters or whatever... here's a few examples:

Effects>Texture Effects>Mosaic - Antique

Effects>Texture Effects>Blinds

Effects>Artistic Effects>Ripple

Effects>Artistic Effects>Twirl

Effects>Artistic Effects>Wave

The image you just made is yours to do whatever you want with. No part of this tutorial may be offered for download anywhere else. You may link to it with a text link only. Violators will be hung by toenails.
